WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman August Pfluger expressed his support after the House of Representatives approved the Laken Riley Act. Pfluger, who played a pivotal role in pushing for the legislation, emphasized the importance of securing the U.S. border to prevent tragedies like the one that befell Laken Riley.

In a statement, Rep. August Pfluger highlighted the need for stricter border control measures, stating, "Laken Riley's death is a tragedy that would not have occurred if the U.S. had a secure border." He criticized the Biden Administration for releasing the alleged murderer of Laken Riley, who had crossed the southern border illegally. Pfluger raised concerns about the risks posed to communities by the administration's handling of criminal offenders.

The Laken Riley Act, named in memory of the slain nursing student, aims to address issues related to illegal aliens who commit theft-related offenses. The legislation mandates Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to take action in arresting, detaining, and deporting such individuals. Additionally, the bill grants states the ability to pursue legal action against the federal government in cases where immigration-related actions negatively impact the state or its residents.

The passing of the Laken Riley Act signifies a significant step towards enhancing border security and ensuring the safety of communities across the country. Rep. August Pfluger and his fellow House Republicans are determined to prevent the release of dangerous criminals into local neighborhoods, advocating for a more stringent approach to immigration enforcement.
