WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman August Pfluger has introduced the No Foreign Persons Administering Our Elections Act, a bill that aims to prohibit noncitizens from serving as election administrators for U.S. federal elections.

In a statement, Congressman Pfluger emphasized the importance of safeguarding the integrity of American elections, stating, "American elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, and entrusting their administration to noncitizens undermines the very essence of our nation's sovereignty." He further added, "The No Foreign Persons Administering Our Elections Act ensures that only those loyal to our country and committed to its values oversee the sacred process of voting."

The bill comes in response to recent events, such as the appointment of Kelly Wong, a Chinese noncitizen, to the San Francisco Election Commission. Despite not being eligible to vote in the United States, Wong was sworn in to serve on the seven-member board responsible for overseeing and implementing policies for the San Francisco Department of Elections.

The introduction of the No Foreign Persons Administering Our Elections Act reflects Congressman Pfluger's commitment to preventing foreign influence in American electoral processes. The bill seeks to uphold the sovereignty of the nation by ensuring that only individuals who are citizens of the United States are involved in administering elections at the federal level.
